Conceptual Metaphor
A conceptual metaphor is the use of one topic or concept to describe and understand another. In any conceptual metaphor there are two parts, a "source domain" and a "target domain" ( ). These are aptly named as the source domain is the source from which one is drawing the concept(s) for the metaphor they are about to use and the target domain is what they are trying to explain or aim the reader/listener towards.Sources:
